By Frankie Kujawa Charm City will experience the dynamic moments that take place both on the ice and in the air when Disney On Ice presents: Magic in the Stars visits the CFG Bank Arena from October 12-15, 2023. Audiences will love the all-new production which brings the brightest Disney stars to life through cutting-edge figure skating, high-flying acrobatics, unexpected stunts, innovative lighting, thrilling special effects, eye-catching costumes, and stunning set designs. "I am super excited to come to Baltimore and share this show with audiences of all ages," began skater Leah Smith. "Disney on Ice presents: Magic in the Stars is our newest production. Our audiences can expect a super, fun-filled, high energy show. [Audiences] will be jumping around and singing with their favorite Disney characters. We have over 55 Disney characters in the show."
This is the second Disney on Ice tour for Smith. The Minneapolis-native has been skating since she's been 5-years old. "In our show, we have twelve of our class and newer Disney stories. I get to portray the role of Snow White in this performance." As this is a new show, there have been quite a few challenges going into it's creation. "I would say," Smith continued, "that one of the challenging parts of putting this performance together is all the new and different elements we are combining together. One of the aspects is we have a lot of aerial work. We are mixing acrobats and ice skating. There are a bunch of us who went to the Feld Entertainment Studio so we could be aerial trained and be able to work with these different aerial apparatuses. A really challenging part was learning these skills that don't come natural to figure skaters, but applying what we know and have learned to this sport has been really fun, and it has been super rewarding." Regardless of challenges, there are also many rewarding factors to performing on Disney on Ice, as well. "One of the most rewarding parts is seeing the kids' faces light up in the audiences when they see their favorite characters on ice. When they are singing and smiling at you there is absolutely no other feeling like it."
